A member asked:

Have you ever experienced someone develop chronic facial, arm and hand and leg swelling after a pilonidal cystectomy?

Swelling Pilonidal: Yes, but this could be an allergic effect to the antibiotics that were given to you after the cystectomy. Stop taking any medications that were given to you and call the doctor and explain to him the symptoms. If you noticed any swelling of the lips or tongue any difficulty breathing or talking you should immediately go to the ER or call 911

Leg swelling: There should be no relationship between having a pilonidal cystectomy and chronic swelling of the face, arms, hand and legs. This kind of swelling is usually due to an alleregic or systemic problem. You need a full evaluation as to the underlyijng cause of the swelling. A pilonidal cystectomy should not cause this.
