Cannot say: Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health, Some abdominal discomfort is pretty common. Severe pain, black or red bowel movements would certainly imply bleeding and be an emergency. Often over the counter medicines remove the pain. If there are no problems, it is hard to say it is an emergency.

Probably not.: If you are in pain, and I'm not sure how you would know it is ulcer-like unless you have had similar pain and were given a diagnosis of an ulcer. I'm guessing you mean pain in the upper middle of your abdomen, what docs call "epigastric pain" near the liver, pancreas, gallbladder. If your pain is severe get checked. If you are having trouble eating, fever, vomiting, or black tar like stool go2 ER

Depends..: If the pain is really bad, I would not want to ignore that and seek treatment from another source. However, if it is tolerable and you can wait, then I suppose as long as you are not having serious vomiting, or vomiting blood or a coffee ground like substance, and are able to eat and drink adequately then you could wait. If any of these are occurring, seek medical attention right away.

Do not ignore: If pain is mod-severe, try to schedule with a doc sooner. if an ulcer, the stomach lining is damaged and this can bleed. Avoid any aspirin, ibuprofen type meds, alcohol, spicy foods, fried or acidic foods. Seek advice from his ans. service -their doc on call. They may be able to access your chart, start f/u or give more specific recommendations. Several possible causes, try to get in soon
