Sun dangers: Tanning in general is not recommended. It is fine to be in the sun with sun protection of SPF 30 or higher. Oil only thought to augment the effects of the sun, but oil itself is not damaging, the sun is. You need approximately 10-20 minutes per day of sun exposure for Vit D purposes, but tanning is not needed for this and harmful to skin.

Not advised: Overall, tanning is not advised due to the documented higher risk of causing skin cancer. Melanoma is the most common form of cancer for young adults 25-29 years old and the second most common form of cancer for young people 15-29 years old.
