Look into reasons: I would suggest you look into reasons you have elevated BP - stress, anxiety, white coat syndrome? Medications? family history? smoking? alcohol etc. These can all affect BP and you should go over these issues with your MD.

BP: A single reading is less important unless extremely high. Chronically elevated BP is what is known as the "silent killer". Damage is done to kidneys,heart, eyes and brain and you may not have symptoms until a large amount of irreversible damage is done. If pregnant, threat to you and baby are real and dangerous. If you can, get BP cuff and keep BP diary 3 x's a day then see MD with diary in hand.
