No. It's a lie.: Most white tongue coverings are bacterial biofilms nourished by tiny bits of food left in your mouth. You can scrape these off with dental floss. Candida, hairy leukoplakia, other leukoplakia an so forth are less common. If you have a lesion that won't come off easily, get with your physician. Occasionally these lesions do warn of HIV or other serious illness.

Perhaps this is in: reference to thrush (yeast infection in immunocompromised person). See that you practice unprotected sex - hopefully that is in a monogamous relationship where both parties are healthy. Take care.

Not really: White covering on the tongue is essentially likely an yeast infection. It is also called candidiasis. This can occur in people with diabetes, recent steroid treatment and other conditions that can be caused by a weak immune system. Initial treatment is with oral medications or a swish and swallow solution. After that, the underlying reason should be investigated.

Where has it been?: It is possible to get HIV & other Sexually Transmitted Diseases through oral contact with a person who has one. However, a white tongue can be the result of other things, too, & this is far more likely. An oral yeast infection, an infectious illness, etc., are all higher on the list. See your doc or a dentist. If you have practiced unsafe sex, white tongue or not, get checked out.
