Fat accumulation: It means the liver has increase amount of fat in the hepatocytes. It is the most common liver disease in the USA, if not the world.

It can be associated with alcoholic live disease, but can also be due to a number of medical causes as well as being a complication of several medicines. By itself, the term means that you need to be evaluated by your physician, who will need to do appropriate tests to clarify the issue for you.

Think of pate : The cells of the liver have abnormally high fat content and can be visualized on imaging. If an ultrasound found this such a report could be misleading as ultrasound is not the most specific way to document fat in the liver cells. A biopsy is gold standard , followed by MRI and CT
