Very common virus: According to the CDC, 90-95% of American adults have evidence of previous EBV infection even without active symptoms. Although the EBV has been postulated to be linked to some forms of cancer/chronic fatigue syndrome, the majority of patients who get this virus do not develop these conditions. Our immune system can develop ways to keep the virus from reinfecting us as badly in future exposures.
