In theory: Epilepsy is more complicated than we once thought. Many people that have epilepsy surgery have the seizures return. this is because epileptics have epileptic brains. We remove a piece of the brain causing the seizures, but another epileptic area develops over time. This would be true with laser ablation as well

Laser ablation: is not used for generalized epilepsy. It is used for partial epilepsy (focal onset) usually the right anterior temporal lobe.
