Lyme Carditis: In a patient who has been diagnosed with Lyme disease with having typical rash and positive blood test if ECG shows heart block that could support the diagnosis of Lyme carditis, if heart is involved the patient would feel lightheaded, chest pain, palpitation and experience fainting.

Several things: Are required to make this diagnosis. One: testing (+) for Lyme disease. Remember depending on when the exposure started initial antibody testing can be negative! Two: some suggestion of cardiac involvement, most classically various forms of altered electrical condition or also inflammatory changes of the heart; these can usually be found on electrical studies or blood tests. Best of luck.

Constellation: lyme carditis is diagnosed by a constellation of clinical findings, including physical exam, EKG, and blood work. Patients often will have complete heart block, positive blood tests for lyme, or history of recent possible exposure. heart block is a key component of the diagnosis.
