Sylimarin: This is an extract of the milk thistle seed. It is postulated to have anticancer and liver protective effects. The major active constituent has been studied and it was found that 13 grams daily was well tolerated in patients with advanced prostate cancer, and that asymptomatic liver toxicity was the most commonly seen side effect.
