A member asked:

How do you know you have an infection in your throat? when you are feeling scratching in your throat, can't swallow nothing, dry, headache, and dizzy.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Throat infection: All the symptoms you mention can be related to a throat infection such as tonsillitis. Infection also can cause fever, pain especially with swallowing and red or white patches in back of throat. Keep yourself well hydrated, take tylenol (acetaminophen) for mild fever and Ibuprofen for discomfort. Throat discomfort can also be caused by reflux and allergies. Bacterial inf. like strep need antibiotics to resolve.
