I keep getting a shooting pain travelling down my neck under my left ear where the packing is, i get this removed tomorrow is this a normal pain.

Probably: If the pain is intermittent, that is common. If it is constant, getting worse, red streaks, or you have a fever, it is not normal and very worrisome, so call your doc in that case,. Hopefully when the packing is out, it will vanish. Be sure to ask your doc what signs to watch for after it is removed.
