A member asked:

Is the absence seizures coming from the temporal lobe?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Complex partial szs.: These previously were termed "temporal lobe epilepsy", and the temporal lobe is involved, especially in case of congenital or acquired, "mesial temporal sclerosis". So, in part, your seizures emanate there, and this could be a site of surgical intervention in some cases. We also are aware of more widespread provocation over the circuitry called the limbic area, so it may not be so anatomic.
