Doctor may be right.: Your doctor may be right and correct in sending you on for further evaluation by a neurologist if they feel they would rather let an expert take a look see. You may have what is commonly referred to as a "pinched" nerve in the lower back. You may also have tingling & painful sensations that travel from the back down one or both legs. An evaluation should be done likely with both MRI & EMG studies.

Could be related: Sorry you're experiencing these symptoms. Ask your doctor or spinal specialist whether the leg symptoms are related. He or she may order a spinal MRI. In your area, either a neurologist or a physiatrist could perform additional testing to determine what may be causing your leg symptoms. It may turn out that they are related to your spinal condition. Best wishes to you. I hope you feel better soon.
