Yes: Pelvic exams in pregnancy are safe. In fact due to the problem of spotting and pain it is necessary. With the problem you are having you should be seen. If you have not already had an exam or ultrasound confirming a pregnancy in the uterus, then you should. With pain and bleeding the concern is ectopic pregnancy. This becomes a potential emergency.
