What does it mean if you get a shooting pain in your right upper arm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need more info: Most likely you have a "pinched" nerve . That could be cause by an injury or some motion of your cervical and/or thoracic spine while you were asleep. Even a "whiplash" injury can cause this complaint. Please make an appt with your family physician.
