Not a good idea: Endogenous nitric oxide (NO) is involved in the pathogenesis of asthma and can lead to inflammation and contraction of the airways. NO is actually produced by the metabolism of L-arginine. So if you are supplementing with this substance, you could in theory increase the NO in your body leading to worsening asthma symptoms. http://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/arginine/safety/hrb-20058733
