Occurs any time.: My office is close to several universities and each november i see freshmen who went home for thanksgiving and reacted to pets they tolerated for years. When a person prone to develop allergies grows up in frequent contact with an animal, often a tolerance develops but if contact is stopped for over 2-3 months the tolerance disappears and subsequent contact produces symptoms.
