Variable symptoms: In open angle glaucoma the only signs are gradually progressive visual field loss, and optic nerve changes. In close angle glaucoma, there is sudden ocular pain, seeing halos around lights, red eye, very high intraocular pressure, nausea and vomiting, sudden decreased vision, and a fixed, mid-dilated pupil. There are no symptom: Glaucoma is a silent cause of blindness, hence there are usually no symptoms. You need to be examined by an ophthalmologist. Acute angle closure glaucoma is a rare condition that causes eye pain, headache, photophobia, blurry vision, nausea, and glare.

Loss of side vision: Most glaucoma is asymptomatic. Acute angle closure glaucoma is associated with pain, blurred vision, nausea and a red eye. Open angle glaucoma is not symptomatic until late in the progression of the disease. This fact is why routine eye exams are recommended to detect the disease early in its course before irreversible damage to the optic nerve and the vision has occurred .
