Can you feel dilated ducts? i'm nursing and i feel a firm smooth thing that feels like a short vein.

Yes : Quite likely you are feeling a milk duct. If it disappears after baby has nursed well on that side, then that is likely what it is. If it feels hard and hurts and does not disappear with nursing then it may be a blocked duct, and will need massage and pumping and nursing to clear it.
