High Ferritin: Hi, The most common cause of high Ferritin is obesity, inflammation , fatty liver, hepatitis c , normal variant and Alcohol consumption, the most common genetic cause of elevated ferritin levels is hemochromatosis, more common in white European descends, it could lead to Liver failure, Usually the ferritin level is more than 1000. See your doctor: to determine the cause. this can be due to multiple conditions including hemochromatosis. though ferritin is also an 'acute phase reactant' and can be high in infection and inflammatory processes
