See answer : The most common cause would be a urinary tract infection (UTI) which is best diagnosed or confirmed with a urine culture. Urinary stones, urinary cancers, kidney disease, or prostate problems would be other less common causes.

Could be infection: Sounds like it could be a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) But there are other possibilities. UTI's often show blood cells in the urine (hematuria) & leukocytes (white blood cells=pus=pyuria) are also present. However epithelial cells (skin cells) in a urine specimen can indicate that the urine specimen was not properly collected & has some cells from outside the urinary tract, too. Ask your doc.
