If you had ductal cancer while breast feeding, wouldn't you get mastitis since the duct is blocked by the tumor?

Not necessarily: It is certainly a possibility but not a certainty. Mastitis is caused by infection, so bacteria would have to somehow get past the blockage to cause the mastitis.
