This is common: Sometimes when kick in the shin you will develop a hematoma or a swollen mass on the skin. It is shiny since the skin is being pulled tightly because it is on top of the bone. It can be filled with blood or fluid. It will resolve itself with time. If it grows go see your PCP

Hematoma: Ann, You probably developed a hematoma, or a blood collection in the area of injury. This should take 3-4 weeks to resolve. If you have worsening symptoms, or inability to move the affected leg, see your doctor. Hope this helps!
