Hard to say.: The wheezing associated with asthma comes from your lungs. It is possible that you are having nasal congestion which is causing the whistling because the airflow through your nose is disrupted. With asthma you will have difficulty breathing, cough, and wheeze. Your chest will likely feel tight and you will have more difficulty getting air out than inhaling. For dry nose try nasal saline rinses

See allergist/ENT: If your nose is dry , you may try OTC nasal gel . The whistling sound however suggests that there may be some obstruction present. There are many condition which can cause shortness of breath. If it occurs when you breathe in , then this points to obstruction at the upper airway (nose, adenoid, vocal cord etc). You need to consult an allergist or ENT if your family doc can't help you.
