Probably chills: Cold shivers sounds like chills to me. You get chills when you have a fever and your temperature is rising. Fever occurs with many common infections - the common cold, strep throat, mono, ear infections, intestinal infections, kidney infections - to name a few. If chills persist see a health care professional for evaluation. If you think that you might have HIV ask them to run a simple blood test.
