Stretch !: Once you have ruled out any neurologic problems, some active and passive physical therapy may help.
Stretching is very important prior to activities.
If you are a runner or active in sports/gym it is very important.
Ibuprofen may be used for pain too.

There are certain yoga poses and stretches that are ideal for this type of muscl tightness in the absence of other pathology. consider a yoga class after you discuss with your doctor.
