Check and prevent: As part of a good physical exam lab is done to screen for health problems. With a strong family history a blood sugar level, glucose, will be part of the labs. More importantly, put your energies into preventing diabetes. Exercise, even 20 minutes a day of walking, will help. Eat a healthy diet. Don't drink regular sodas. Keep your weight optimal. Get a thorough physical and labs!
