Misinformed?: To get pregnant sperm have to be in the vagina before ovulation. They must be ready to impregnate an egg when the ovary releases it. The sperm most likely to cause pregnancy are the sperm deposited in the vagina on any or all of the five days leading up to ovulation. Sperm left after ovulation often do not reach the egg before it no longer can be impregnated.
