Optic atrophy: The classic eye examination finding of MS is optic atrophy. Optic neuritis is a very common initial presentation of MS, and it often leaves behind a characteristic "pale disc" of optic atrophy that is visible at the back of the eye with a standard ophthalmoscope examination.
