Intestinal infection: Occassionally, infections of the bowel with parasites or bacteria can produce symptoms such as those you have described. Stools samples are sent to the lab for evaluation with microscope and culture to determine if these are present.

Need in depth eval: If you are passing bloody/mucous stools, then you need a thorough evaluation. See your primary doctor. You may need a colonoscopy to evaluate your GI tract.
