A member asked:

Does bismuth subsalicyate cause stomach aches if not needed and black stool?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Black stools, yes: Pepto Bismol, (bismuth subsalicylate)( bismuth subsalicyate), does cause black stools. It should not cause stomach pain. If your pain is persistent or worsening, see your doctor.
