We know what to do: It could happen but is very unlikely. Ebola is pretty bad but luckily we have an excellent healthcare system. Quarantine procedures would be strictly followed -unlike early on in Africa. It could become a bit like SARS though in Canada- some small localized disease spots, like in hospitals. Exposed vs infected: A note: In 1990, it was discovered that monkeys in quarrantine were infected with Ebola. No humans became ill, but four people exposed to the monkeys were found to have antibodies against Ebola. From what we know of Ebola, this suggests that their exposure was so slight that their immune systems were able to prevent the virus taking hold and causing clinical infection. Therefore, not contagious.

Well: Initial management of the Liberian National who was stricken with Ebola Virus by the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas has heightened concern by some. The Center for Disease Control,state and local medical resources quickly became involved with identification, monitoring and containment of contacts.This situation heightened efforts made at other hospitals through out the US to be prepared.
