Herpes: This sounds like the classic presentation of a herpes cold sore. See your doc for a prescription to decrease the duration of it.

Herpes?: Most burning bumps on lips are caused by Herpes Simplex. However it is always recommended to have your doctor see the lesions to confirm. There are better medications than Carmex to treat this. Good luck!
