Waining immunity: Bacteria related vaccines like pertussis (whooping cough)& tetanus will generate immunity that is shorter in duration than some of the viral vaccines like measles.Before ~1992 we rarely gave the pertussis vaccine to anyone over 6 due shot reactions & side effects. Teens & adults were occasionally infected.Today the newer vaccine has less side effects &it is recommended for teens & adults.
