PCOS: PCOS is thought to be related to stress (of various causes). BCP's are helpful in avoiding long term effects of PCOS (or amenorrhea) due to "unopposed estrogen". If "normal periods" occurred for a while, but your stress returned, spotting can occur reflecting anovulation bleeding. See your healthcare professional who may recommend an ultrasound, and start BCP's again.

Not unusual: Many women with PCOS will get a honeymoon period for a few months where they get regular periods, then cycles will again become irregular. This does not mean you have PCOS. The diagnosis requires specific criteria.
