It varies: In the lower GI tract an infection can have a different range of symptoms like diarrhea (with or without blood), gas, or bloating. You can also have fever, nausea and vomiting. These infections can be bacterial or viral. Viral syndromes are usually self-limited while bacterial may need antibiotics for some cases. In any case you want to keep hydrated and see your doctor if you cannot do that.
