Yes this is normal: Gas is just air that is in you GI tract. Because air moves around, you can feel the gas in many different parts of your abdomen. You may want to start keeping a food diary to see what foods may cause you to have more gas and try not to eat those particular foods. There are also over the counter medications like Gas-ex or simethicone that can help break up gas in your GI tract.
