Timing not critical: Prozac (fluoxetine) is a long lasting medication and does not need to be split up. If you are sensitive to medications you can start with twice a day for a week or longer. If no issues is is easier to dose the 40 mg one time a day after that.

Lets review your que: Prozac (fluoxetine) is usually dosed once a day, ie has a half life of 24 hours so a strict 12 hour timing of medicine is not needed. i would take it in the am when you wake up and again at bedtime when you get ready for bed

That would be: fine but it doesn't need to be spaced out by exactly 12 hours. The most important thing is to take it at the same time each day. Many people take 40mg at one time. Take care.

Prozac (fluoxetine): Prozac (fluoxetine) is an SSRI antidepressant with a very long half-life. It can have a slightly excitatory effect, so conceivably taking the second dose in the evening might interfere with your sleep, so just see how it goes. Due to it's long half-life, blood levels won't fluctuate much at all and it wouldn't be critical to take the doses at a rigorously fixed time interval.
