A member asked:

Nail laceration reversible?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes but...: Nail laceration like any wound will heal. Surgical repair is preferred if the wound is deep. The nail matrix is found under the skin just in front of the nail plate. If this area is injured there is a possibility that the nail will not grow in that area leading to either a splitting of the nail plate as it grows or a deformed nail. See a dermatogist or podiatrist for evaluation.
