Is it hard to get pregnant if she has irregular periods?

Yes: Irregular periods indicate a problem with ovulation. These women may have difficulty getting pregnant without the help of their physician. Usually a low dose medication is needed to help with ovulation.

Possible: To get pregnant you have to ovulate. With irregluar period you'll have irregular ovulation. All you need is one timing ovulation with intersourse. If no pregnancy after a year of trying then see gyn/fertility doctor; and your partner needs to see doctor as well.
