Two ideas: Ask your physician (1) whether insurance might cover it if it becomes irritated by your clothing & could get infected while you're on your prednisone -- i.e., it's not just a cosmetic procedure; (2) whether the home remedy of tying a piece of dental floss tight around the base and letting it fall off over the next few days is safe enough for you to do it.

Skin Tag: Please be aware that having a doctor remove skin tags is usually not covered by medical insurance because it is considered an elective procedure. You can tie a string tightly around the base of the skin tag and then cut the tag with a scissors. The problem with this method is infection may occur.
