Hemoptysis: Coughing up blood is abnormal and should be evaluated by your physician. It may be from irritation or inflammation of the windpipe as a result of your recent respiratory tract infection, but it could also be caused by an ongoing bacterial bronchitis or pneumonia. Do yourself a great favor and permanently give up smoking.

See how it goes : If it was just a couple flecks of blood and it doesn't occur again it may be related to the infection you are getting over.
