R.I.C.E.: You don't say what kind of "small accident" you had. The standard recommendation would be Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation above the level of your heart. If the pain persists or increases, or if you think you might be getting an infection from the scratch, then see a doctor.

Contrast bathing: If the abrasion is open or deep you must protect against infection with wound-care. Wash soap and water and apply antibaterial. Keep covered when in shoes. Reduce vigorous physical activity and utilize and OTC anti-inflammatory for 2-4 weeks daily. Consider contrast bathing which will do the most for improving the condition and returning you to normal activities. Google contrast bathing
