A member asked:

What do you suggest if my man has stage 3 prostate cancer even though the blood test was negative. how can that be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Psa normal: Not all prostate cancers express PSA. Therefore, someone can have a prostate cancer but still have a normal PSA. I have heard estimates as high as 5-10% of prostate cancers do not express PSA. This is one of the reasons why a prostate exam should be done in addition to a PSA test for screening. At stage 3, he should proceed for further evaluation and treatment.
