A member asked:

Can you tell me in what ways can a hemicolectomy affect the renal system or any other physiological systems?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nothing long term: While during the perioperative period there could be a variety of systems temorarily affected, there shouldn't be any long term affects of removeing a segment of colon. Check with your surgeon to be sure about your specific case.
