An exam can tell: It is hard to say what this is without an eye examination, but there are a number of normal variations in the coloration or the eye, iris, cornea, conjunctiva, and sclera of the the eye. Sometimes these are noticed coincidentally when looking closely at the eye in a mirror for another reason and may have been already present. Some change normally over time, but a sudden change should be checked.
