What happens if sodium valproate lowers a fetuses iq does it mean it lowers my own when i take it?

No: The fetal nervous system is developing and there are many medications that are harmful for the fetus that are fine for an adult. Valproate (Depakote) should never be given to pregnant women due to the possibility of neural tube defects such as spina bifida and other disorders. Valproate does have side effects for adults but lower IQ is not one of them.
