No, they are not: the same. Osteophytes are bony overgrowths that occur around joints, usually due to degenerative arthritis. Exostoses, also called osteochondromas, are benign bone excrescences that usually grow out of the shafts of long bones like the tibia or flat bones like the pelvis, not related to arthritis or other pathologies
