A member asked:

What do you suggest if my father did radiation in 2010 to remove a tumor in the throat?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Follow up for 5 yrs: Most throat lesions are squamous cell Ca. In the throat vs. oral cavity surgical resection is difficult requiring transhyoid pharygotomy. As such RT used with chemo when needed with usually good responses. If he is 4 yrs post treatment and remains free of disese with no cervical nodes, follow up 2x/yr. is more than enough with chemo and erbitux available if needed.
